Tech CEO falls 3,000 feet to his death while climbing California’s Mt. Shasta

Posted on September 24, 2025 By admin

A tech CEO from Argentina reportedly fell 3000 feet to his death last week while descending from the top of Mount Shasta in northern California.

The CEO was identified as Matias Augusto Travizano, who was only 45 but planned on summiting the mega 14,000-foot-high mountain earlier on September 12.

He was joined by two strangers on the non-technical and frequently used Clear Creek Trail during his descent.

The co-founder and CEO of GranData was said to have wandered off the easy path, and he, with another stranger, ended up stranded on the incredibly steep, icy, and rocky Wintun Glacier, which is said to be nearly 13,500 feet high. While stranded on top of that glacier, the pair of climbers tried to take on a controlled slide down the ice and rock to reach a safer location, but the CEO ended up losing control and struck a giant boulder about 300 feet below, witnesses mentioned to the sheriff.

The CEO appeared knocked out for as many as 10 minutes by the giant boulder blow. He was said to be still alive at the time and that’s when the second climber tried to reach him.

When he regained consciousness and moved, he slipped again and plunged over an edge and out of sight. His remains were located at the bottom of the glacier.
