Bride and Groom Made Us Serve and Clean at Their Wedding – But Karma Didn’t Let Them Slide

We expected luxury, not labor, at our friends’ wedding. But when the bride handed out task lists—setting tables, serving drinks, cleaning bathrooms—our excitement turned to outrage. While they partied, we were unpaid staff, until we decided to serve some justice.

At the Belmont Estate, things felt off right away. There was no valet, and the bride, Sarah, grabbed us urgently to “help.” Turns out, the couple had no staff and expected us to fill in.

We were handed lists of tasks like “serve appetizers” and “clean bathrooms hourly.” Sarah barked orders while the family sipped champagne. Soon, we realized we were being exploited, not helping out as friends.

Fed up, we plotted a plan. Instead of gifts, we decided to charge for our services. When it was time for the gift exchange, I stood up and told them we’d be keeping the money as payment. Sarah freaked out, but her anger was short-lived. In her rage, she tripped into the wedding cake. We couldn’t help but laugh.

As we left, we felt our dignity and money intact. We won’t be invited to their anniversary, but that’s fine. Sometimes the best gift is a lesson in respect—with a side of cake-covered karma.
