Bride-to-be Killed by Drunk Driver in Wrong Way Crash Just Week Before Marrying College Sweetheart

Posted on September 26, 2025 By admin

A loving bride-to-be was killed by a drunk driver in a wrong-way crash, just weeks before marrying her college sweetheart.

The victim was identified as a 23-year-old from Oklahoma who passed away in a head-on crash with a wrong-way driver just days before her big day.

Katelyn Callahan and Tristen Cherry were on their way when they met with the accident on the I-44 near Oklahoma City.

That’s when, all of a sudden, a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old named Sergio Ibarra entered the highway in the wrong direction and slammed right into them, head-on, as per reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Callahan was pronounced dead on the scene while her lover and others were hospitalized in critical condition.

The pair was said to be driving back home from the Calf Fry Festival in Stillwater at the time of the deadly incident.

Authorities alleged that Ibarra was intoxicated during the time of the accident and will now face charges linked to first-degree manslaughter and three counts of DUI causing great bodily injury.

Both he and his 36-year-old passenger were hospitalized as a result of the late-night collision.
