Just hours after graduating from Mill Creek High School, Mykale Baker skipped the party and returned to his shift at Burger King—still wearing his graduation stole and medals.
The 18-year-old’s quiet dedication caught the eye of Maria Mendoza, a customer and fellow parent, who was so moved she filmed him and posted the clip on TikTok, saying, “TikTok, do your thing!”
The video went viral, earning over 4.5 million views and sparking a GoFundMe that raised more than $230,000 for Baker’s college dreams. Mendoza later surprised him at work, reducing the humble teen to tears.
Baker, raised by a single mom and the youngest of eight, had planned to delay college due to financial struggles—but now hopes to attend technical school with the support of donors and a $10,000 scholarship from Burger King’s foundation.
He didn’t chase fame—just showed up, worked hard, and inspired the world.
