The Great Tequila Robbery: 24,000 Bottles Of Guy Fieri’s Liquor Stolen In Highway Heist

Posted on October 11, 2025 By admin

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri recently revealed he was the victim of a major crime, warning, “everybody’s vulnerable.” Fieri and rock legend Sammy Hagar launched Santo Tequila and were gearing up for its release when two semi trucks carrying 24,000 bottles vanished.

In a 60 Minutes interview, Fieri expressed disbelief: “How do you lose that many thousands of bottles of tequila?”

The trucks had traveled from Guadalajara to Laredo, Texas, but things went wrong due to multiple layers of subcontracting. The original logistics company outsourced to illegitimate trucking companies. Unaware they were part of a scam, the drivers were redirected to Los Angeles instead of Pennsylvania.

One truck and 11,000 bottles were later recovered in Southeast L.A. The other truck—and the rest of the tequila—was never found.

California leads the nation in goods theft, due to its ports and highway system. Police in L.A. even have a special division dedicated to recovering stolen items, including luxury goods and electronics.
