One student named Sibongile Mani, who was busy attending the Walter Sisulu University in South Africa, this no longer became just a hypothetical situation.
The student was receiving a government grant to help in maintaining her during her studies. But one day, she found that she had accidentally been sent a staggering amount of 14 million South African Rands, which is about $798,000 at the time of writing.
This money had been deposited by error, but Mani opted to make the most of this and went on a major shopping spree. She would buy the most expensive alcoholic beverages and designer clothing, and the newest iPhone.
In the end, she spent what was equal to a whopping amount of $40,000 before she was found out. Mani was caught after she left a bank receipt behind at the supermarket.
The branch secretary says she was just suddenly spending so much money, and that made even the bank curious. Her receipts at the supermarket, which were leaked, proved she had a whopping 13.6 million rand inside her account, and she had been throwing parties for her pals and showering them with gifts without any worry in the world.
