Prince Andrew Gives Up Royal Titles Amid Epstein Scandal; Prince William Enforces “Ruthless” Approach
Prince Andrew has relinquished his royal titles after new details of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced. The move came just days before sex trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre—who died by suicide in April—released her memoir, detailing encounters with Andrew when she was under 18.
In a statement, Andrew said he and the royal family agreed his continued presence distracts from the King’s work. “I will therefore no longer use my title or honours,” he said, again denying all allegations.
Prince William reportedly played a key role in the decision and plans to ban Andrew from all royal events, including his future coronation. Royal experts say William is “not satisfied” with how the situation has been handled and is taking a tougher stance than his father.
Commentator Helena Chard described William as “ruthless” and “solution-focused,” determined to protect the monarchy’s reputation. Another expert, Hilary Fordwich, added that William and Kate are enforcing a “zero-tolerance” policy to safeguard the royal family’s future.
