Donald Trump shared a post on his social media platform that all trade negotiations between the US and Canada were terminated, citing a controversial provincial ad as the main trigger behind the incident.
The ad was shared by the government of Ontario and cost nearly $75 million (Canadian Dollars), which is equal to $54M USD. This featured an edited audio of Ronald Reagan slamming tariffs which is an audio segment from the 1987 Radio Address to the Nation of Free and Fair Trade.

Trump accused Canada of trying to illegally influence the US Supreme Court through this ad, as the Court is set to review the legality of big US tariff actions. He mentioned that the behavior was unacceptable and uncalled for, and all trade negotiations with the country were terminated as a result of this incident.
In reply to that, Canada’s PM Mark Carney expressed sheer disappointment, noting how the constructive talks on metals, energy, and autos was underway. He similarly warned that if Canada does not attain fair reciprocal market access, it will not hesitate once to keep its workers protected.
