A chilling case in Pennsylvania is nearing trial. Jessica Mauthe is accused of killing her four newborns, whose remains were found hidden in her former home in Cadogan after she was evicted in September.
Landlord Brent Flanigan discovered a strong odor coming from a trash bag in a closet and, upon inspection, found an infant’s body, prompting a police investigation. Officers later found four newborns, each concealed in plastic totes, bags, or a bucket.
Mauthe admitted to giving birth to four babies—referred to as A, B, C, and D—over six years. She told investigators some were born alive, others silent, and that she didn’t report the births out of fear due to taking an unprescribed anti-addiction drug.
Her defense attorney, Chuck Pascal, cited potential mental health issues, urging against assumptions before evidence is presented. Mauthe remains in Armstrong County Jail without bond, facing multiple homicide charges. No trial date has been set.
