Iconic Radio DJ Pierre Robert Dead at 70
Beloved Philadelphia radio personality Pierre Robert has died at age 70. He was found at his home on October 29, according to WMMR’s parent company, Beasley Media Group. No foul play is suspected.
Robert, pronounced “Ro-Bear,” spent over 44 years at WMMR, where he began in 1981. His midday Pierre Robert Show aired weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., always opening with his signature greeting, “Greetings, Citizens.”
“Pierre’s unwavering love for music and deep connection with listeners made him one of radio’s most enduring and beloved voices,” said Beasley Media Group CEO Caroline Beasley.
Known for his passion for rock and philanthropy, Robert supported causes like the AIDS Walk and MANNA’s Pie in the Sky fundraiser. A fixture of Philadelphia’s live music scene, his star shines on the Philadelphia Music Alliance Walk of Fame.
