It was a very emotional night for Jimmy Kimmel as he paid tribute to his childhood friend turned bandleader Cleto Escobedo III after his death at 59, earlier on Tuesday.
‘We’ve been on the air for nearly 23 years, and I have had to do some hard monologues along the way, but this is one of the hardest, Kimmel shared regarding Cleto, who was the godfather to his son Kevin.

Kimmel continued: ‘Late last night, early this morning, we lost someone very special who was much too young to go. I would like to tell you about him, if you don’t mind’- the host revealed.
He called him a man who was loved by all of his colleagues at the ABC late-night show, as he always treated others with so much kindness, Kimmel added. He mentioned that this is the reason why he cannot continue and will be taking a break for a week to grieve his dear friend.

‘I mean, everyone loves Cleto,’- Kimmel explained, who was visibly choked up. ‘Everyone here at the show. We are so devastated by this one. It’s just not fair. He was the nicest and most humble and kind individual, always the funniest person’- sources added.
