Donald Trump’s State Department has issued guidance recommending that overweight people be denied immigrant visas to enter the nation.
The directive, which is part of several ideas that the Trump administration has floated to crack down on unwanted travel to the US is names obesity as part of the different medical conditions that could come at an expense.

Those medical conditions include heart disease, lung disease, cancer, diabetes, metabolic disease, neurological disease, and mental health conditions, in addition to obesity, the guidance reads.
Officials are told to ask the following: ‘Does the applicant have enough financial resources to cover the costs of such care over his entire expected lifespan without seeking public cash assistance or long-term institutionalization at the government’s expense?’

‘It’s no secret that the Trump administration is putting the interests of the US people first’- spokesperson Tommy Pigott added to Daily Mail, confirming the legitimacy of the directive. ‘This will entail enforcing policies that ensure the immigration system is not a burden on the American taxpayer,’ she added.
