Donald Trump invited New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani, to the White House, despite previously calling him a “communist” and threatening to cut federal funding if he won. Trump had strongly opposed Mamdani during the campaign, warning that NYC would become “a complete disaster” under his leadership.
Still, after Mamdani’s victory, the two met at the White House. Surprisingly, the meeting went better than expected, with Trump saying they “agreed a lot more” than he anticipated. Mamdani said they openly discussed disagreements but focused on how to work together.
Speaking on The Adam Friedland Show, Mamdani revealed the strangest thing Trump showed him: a coffee-table book titled “UFC at the White House” in the Oval Office waiting area. The book displayed plans for a UFC octagon on the White House South Lawn. The UFC is scheduled to hold an event there in June, with 5,000 spectators and a $700,000 budget to restore the grass afterward.
