King Charles Removes Remaining Honors from Former Prince Andrew
King Charles has officially stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — formerly Prince Andrew — of his last royal honors. A notice published Dec. 1 confirmed his removal from the Order of the Garter and the Royal Victorian Order, backdated to Oct. 30, when the palace began removing his titles.
Andrew, once appointed to the prestigious positions by Queen Elizabeth, will now be known only as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. His biography was removed from the royal website, and his name updated on the line of succession page — though he remains eighth in line to the throne, a status that can only change through an Act of Parliament.
The decision follows renewed scrutiny over Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew stepped back from public duties in 2019 after his BBC interview, and his military titles were removed in 2022 before he settled a lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre out of court, denying wrongdoing.
Despite losing his titles, Andrew has continued to appear at family events but is expected to leave his longtime residence and relocate to the Sandringham estate.
Meanwhile, his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie continue private careers and charity work, remaining active in public causes.
