Optical illusions can make your brain play tricks on you, and one viral example shows six girls sitting on a couch—but only five pairs of legs are visible.
According to the Queensland Brain Institute, optical illusions occur when the brain and eyes “get their signals mixed,” causing us to misinterpret what we see.
The photo, posted on Reddit, sparked confusion as users tried to find the “missing” legs. One explanation suggested the second girl’s legs are hidden behind the first girl. Another user broke it down further, noting how the girls’ positions and overlapping clothing make the legs blend together, creating the illusion that one pair is missing.
The viral picture proves once again how easily our brains can be fooled.
