Massive Inferno engulfs New York apartment block as firefighters battle raging flames

A huge blaze has erupted this morning at a six-storey apartment building on the Upper West Side of New York City.

The incident took place at 201 West 107th Street, at about 8:20 am, and swiftly spread through the building’s roof and upper floors. Shocking images were shared on social media that showed flames and thick black smoke billowing from the building.

Debris started to rain down onto the sidewalk and narrowly missed emergency vehicles. Dramatic scenes captured this inferno as firefighters were seen attacking the blaze from rooftops and the upper levels.

The building held nearly 40 apartments, and there was heat, smoke, and growing danger on the rise.

Many residents managed to evacuate the building in time as fire crews started to rush in. More than 100 emergency personnel responded to the scene as authorities designated this blaze a four-alarm fire. Nearby houses were urged to keep the windows shut to avoid inhaling toxic smoke.
