Bruce Willis is now living in a nearby one-story home separate from his family to better support his dementia care, his wife Emma Heming Willis revealed in a new ABC special.
Diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023 after an earlier aphasia diagnosis, Willis has largely withdrawn from public life. Emma described the move as one of the hardest decisions she’s made, explaining it was done to protect their daughters and reduce noise that can worsen his condition.
Though in a separate home, Emma says the family is there often and considers it their “second home,” filled with love, care, and support from friends. She shared that Bruce is still physically healthy but has lost much of his ability to communicate and recognize people.
Emma also recalled early symptoms, saying the once warm and talkative actor became quieter and more withdrawn. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that the family has adapted and found new ways to communicate with him.
