Four teenage skateboarders from Calgary were honored with the Calgary Police Service’s Chief’s Award for Bravery after intervening to protect a young woman during a late-night incident.
In April 2015, Kyle Tenove, Warren Churchill, Clay Stein, and Josh Hunter noticed an intoxicated woman being harassed by an aggressive man downtown. When they saw him trying to lead her into an alley, the teens stepped in, confronted the man, and forced him to flee.
They stayed with the woman and ensured her safety until police arrived. Officers later praised their quick thinking, saying their actions likely prevented serious harm.
The award recognizes civilians who show exceptional courage, and the incident stands as a powerful reminder of how bystanders can make a life-saving difference.
