My Mother Kicked Me Out of the Church for Getting Pregnant Out of Wedlock

The day I revealed my pregnancy at church started with morning sickness and ended with my mother disowning me. But what happened next changed everything.

I’m a sophomore studying psychology, where I met Glenn last fall. We started as study buddies, but I quickly found myself drawn to him. His way of explaining complex topics and that smile made him irresistible. Our friendship turned to something more, and after he kissed me, I told my mom, Claudia, about him. She wasn’t impressed—she’d never remarried since Dad’s passing.

Everything seemed fine until one morning I woke up sick. After taking a pregnancy test, I confirmed my worst fear: I was pregnant. Terrified, I avoided my mom for days, making up excuses to stay in my room.

Then, on Sunday, in the middle of church, the nausea hit. I couldn’t keep it in any longer. I told my mom I was pregnant, and she was furious. She yelled at me to leave, but before I could go, Pastor James stepped in. He reminded my mom of the love and support the church had shown us after Dad died, urging her to show the same to me.

Her anger softened, and we hugged right there in church. Later, Mama apologized, saying she was just scared. She wanted to meet Glenn’s family, so we went to his house. To our surprise, Pastor James opened the door. Turns out, Glenn was his son.

Looking back, I laugh at how everything unfolded. Sometimes blessings come in unexpected ways, and now Mama is knitting baby booties and even considering dating again. Let’s see what happens next.
