Jimmy Carter, the 39th US president, has died at 100

Posted on December 24, 2025December 24, 2025 By admin

The state funeral of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter brought together all five living presidents at Washington National Cathedral, creating a rare moment of unity amid deep political divisions. Carter, who died at 100, was honored as a humble Georgia peanut farmer who rose to the presidency, won the Nobel Peace Prize, and devoted his post-White House life to humanitarian work.

The ceremony drew attention not only for tributes to Carter’s legacy, but also for the striking sight of longtime rivals sitting together — including Donald Trump and Barack Obama, who were seen sharing a friendly conversation. President Joe Biden delivered a eulogy praising Carter’s character, faith, and moral leadership, calling him a model of integrity and compassion.

The funeral symbolized the closing of a political era and prompted reflection on Carter’s presidency, once criticized but now widely reassessed for achievements such as the Camp David Accords, human rights advocacy, and environmental leadership. Following the service, Carter was laid to rest in Plains, Georgia, where he spent most of his life.
