Eight-year-old Guilherme Gandra Moura’s life took a terrifying turn in 2023 when a common cold turned into severe pneumonia. Already living with a rare genetic condition called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), which makes his skin blister easily, Guilherme was placed in a coma for 16 days.
His mother, Tayane, stayed by his side, praying and refusing a tracheostomy, believing he would pull through. When he finally woke up, his first words were simple but heartwarming: “I want to hug my mom.”
The emotional reunion was captured on video and touched people worldwide, highlighting both Guilherme’s courage and the challenges of living with EB. Despite eight surgeries and 23 hospitalizations by age eight, his joyful spirit remains unbroken.
“Where’s my mobile phone? Where’s my mum? Thank you for praying for me. God bless you!” Guilherme shared, inspiring many with his resilience.
