Rubio tells lawmakers US aims to buy Greenland, downplays military role

Posted on January 8, 2026 By admin

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio just informed the press and lawmakers in Congress that Donald Trump has plans to purchase Greenland from Denmark.

The news comes despite serious threats from Europe. He also downplayed previous statements rolled out by the White House Press Secretary regarding imminent military invasion.

Rubio made the shocking claims during a closed-door briefing where he stated that the US has no intention of using force to get Greenland, even though annexing the territory would be in the country’s best interest and would ensure America’s national security is not at threat.

Experts predicted that if that does indeed take place, it would be the biggest territory in history to be a part of America.

Senator Lindsey Graham also revealed today how the administration’s approach to Greenland is all linked to negotiations, adding how America requires legal control and legal protections at the same time to explain why it is building up the territory and putting Americans on the ground in the Arctic region.
