The Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, is under serious pressure from the left wing of her own party as she prepares to lay down her election agenda in the upcoming State of the State address.
Many Democrats have expressed outrage after a controversial fatal shooting by a federal immigration agent, and they are now expressing their desire for the NY4AII Act, which is a bill that would bar state and local law enforcement from cooperating with FIA authorities.

Left-leaning lawmakers rallied publicly for the measure, portraying it as essential to protecting immigrant communities and rallying grassroots support.
Hochul has shown a signal that she would like to support this law, adding that ICE should have no sanctuary, and New Yorkers should have the right to sue them if and when needed.

This includes civil rights violations as part of her broader agenda. The news has come with mixed reactions across the board as it’s a sanctuary-style policy, but at the same time, short of fully backing the more aggressive anti-ICE proposal.
