Dick Van Dyke opens up about sad reality of living to almost 100

Posted on January 20, 2026 By admin

Dick Van Dyke, nearing 100, reflected on the grief of outliving many close friends, including his longtime pal Ed, who died in 2021 at age 91. The two had hoped to remake The Odd Couple. Van Dyke called it difficult to lose so many loved ones, while his wife Arlene described it as “the curse of living to almost 100.” Despite the loss, Van Dyke remains optimistic, saying, “Life’s been good to me. I can’t complain.”

The 99-year-old recently missed hosting his Vandy Camp event in Malibu due to illness, with Arlene reassuring fans that good and bad days are normal at his age and that he hopes to attend the next event.
