Many Inuit residents from Greenland are breaking their silence after threats of a possible annexation of the country by US President Donald Trump.
In the country’s capital city of Nuuk, residents voiced their deep resentment towards decades of control from Danish forces, adding how the actions shaped their society into something seriously harmful and unequal.

Furthermore, talks about women facing hardships like trauma related to forced birth control means, and sterilization programs have left people stunned.
This includes talk about how Danish doctors implanted IUDs inside girls without prior knowledge, leaving lifelong consequences. Only later, citizens became aware of being sterilized. This robbed them of the ability to have kids. It’s a loss that women claim was done without any consent on their part.

Relocation of Greenlandic kids to Denmark in programs that left families separated and got rid of culture. Therefore, many now want to be free from Danish rule but that does not mean they wish to be accommodated by the US as their 51st state.
