A 12-week-old baby girl named Lyla Samuels has passed away in the state of Maine after being left alone with her 24-year-old father, Shawn Samuels.
Sources from local media outlets were seen speaking about how this was the first time that the child was under her dad’s care alone.
The Emergency Services shared more about how they received a call last week after a 911 report detailed that Lyla was not responding at the family’s residence in Orrington.

The first responders managed to revive her for a brief period of time, and she was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, but soon died from her injuries.
An investigation found that she suffered from several kinds of injuries, including four broken ribs, brain swelling, and retinal hemorrhages.
These signs were consistent with fatal abuse, they confirmed. The chief medical examiner shared that the cause of death was a homicide.

Shawn Samuels was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and elevated aggravated assault. After the results of the autopsy, he’s now being charged with murder.
