Donald Trump’s popularity as president has been declining, with recent polls showing he faces challenges ahead of the midterms. Despite claims from his administration that the economy is improving, issues like immigration, the Epstein files, and diplomatic tensions have hurt his approval.
A January AP-NORC poll found 59% of U.S. adults disapprove of Trump’s performance, with only 40% approving. Approval on the economy was 37%, immigration 38%, and foreign policy/trade 37%. Other surveys, including the New York Times/Siena University poll, also place his approval around 40–45%, with a RealClearPolitics average at 42%. Republican support remains strong, but Democratic opposition has solidified.
In response to the polling, Trump criticized media and pollsters on Truth Social, calling polls “fake and fraudulent” and accusing outlets, including Fox News, of misleading the public. He referenced the 2020 election and said polls have been used to influence voters, calling for action against “Fraudulent Polling” to protect American journalism.
