Erika Kirk drew major attention at President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address on February 24 — not only for being mentioned, but for her emotional reaction on camera.
During the record-long speech, Trump praised his late friend Charlie Kirk, calling him a key influence in the country’s religious renewal. Charlie, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed in September 2025. His wife, Erika, later became the organization’s CEO.
As Trump spoke about him, cameras showed Erika wiping away tears. Trump added that in Charlie’s memory, the nation must reject political violence and stand united.
Online reactions were divided. Some critics accused Erika of exaggerating her emotions, while others believed she appeared to mouth, “I miss you,” calling the moment heartbreaking.
Meanwhile, Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, is facing a potential death penalty case.
The address also highlighted political tensions, with many Democrats skipping the speech for protests, and Congressman Al Green of Texas being escorted out after holding up a protest sign.
