I never expected one split-second decision to change my life.
One rainy evening, after a long day at work, I heard a woman firmly say, “Please, leave me alone.”
A man was standing far too close to her, and although she stayed calm, it was obvious she was uncomfortable.
Without thinking, I walked over.
“Why are you getting involved?” the man demanded.
The first thing that came to mind was, “Because she’s my sister.”
She caught on instantly.
“I’ve been waiting for you,” she said.
The man hesitated, looked between us, then finally walked away.
Once he was gone, she thanked me for stepping in. We introduced ourselves, laughed about our fake “sibling” story, and went our separate ways.
I never expected to see her again.
Months later, after countless job applications, I finally landed an interview with a company that could change my future.
The interview room door opened.
And there she was.
The same woman from that rainy night.
We stared at each other in complete disbelief.
