Barron Trump attended his father’s State of the Union address on February 24, marking a rare public appearance. The 19-year-old, now studying at NYU’s Stern Business School in Washington, D.C., quickly sparked online speculation — especially about a “mystery woman” seated behind him, whom some assumed was his girlfriend.
Her identity has since been confirmed as Sierra Burns, 24, a foster care advocate invited by First Lady Melania Trump. Burns is part of the Foster Youth to Independence Program and is pursuing a master’s degree in Advocacy and Social Policy while working in healthcare. She has also testified in support of extending foster care services in South Carolina.
Burns said attending the event was “an ultimate honor,” and President Trump publicly thanked her during his speech. Melania also praised Burns and another young guest for representing her mission to support foster youth.
Despite online rumors, the White House clarified that Burns was simply an invited guest — not romantically linked to Barron, whose private life remains largely out of the spotlight.
