Daniel Neeson, the 29-year-old son of Liam Neeson and the late Natasha Richardson, recently revealed he underwent surgery to treat a rare congenital heart condition called Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV).
In an Instagram post shared March 3, Neeson explained he was born with the condition, which affects about 2% of people and can remain unnoticed for years before causing complications. After lifelong cardiology checkups, doctors discovered severe left-ventricle dilation and enlargement of his aorta, making surgery necessary.
Reflecting on the experience, Neeson said the procedure taught him the importance of understanding one’s health and trusting medical professionals. He described the operation as a moment of surrender and healing rather than fear.
Neeson is an entrepreneur and environmental advocate who founded the sustainable clothing brand Pine Outfitters in 2017. He grew up in New York with his older brother, Micheál Neeson, who has appeared with their father in films including Cold Pursuit and Made in Italy.
