The family of Adriana Smith, a 31-year-old woman declared brain dead while pregnant, has shared updates about her baby’s progress after he was delivered via C-section last year.
Smith suffered a medical emergency during pregnancy and was placed on life support after doctors found multiple brain blood clots and determined she had no chance of recovery. Her family says she was kept on life support to allow the baby to be born under Georgia’s pregnancy laws.
The baby, named Chance, was later delivered and spent months in the NICU but is now home, though he still requires oxygen. Family members shared that he has met his older brother and is described as a happy, pleasant baby.
The family continues asking for prayers and support as the child grows.
