HGTV star Ty Pennington recently shared an emotional message on Instagram, describing the past decade as a “cycle of heartbreak and hopelessness.” In a post with a photo from his wedding to his wife Kellee Merrell, he reminded followers that anyone feeling stuck in difficult times is not alone and encouraged people to hold their loved ones close.
The post received support from fellow TV personalities, including Vern Yip from Trading Spaces, Mike Wolfe from American Pickers, Anthony Elle from Luxe for Less, and actor Billy Baldwin.
Pennington and Merrell first met in 2010 in Toronto and reconnected in 2020. They began dating, quarantined together during the pandemic, got engaged in 2021, and married later that year in Georgia. Despite difficult moments over the years, Pennington says he’s grateful to have his wife by his side.
