”Every teen girl’s dream” in the ’90s now lives a quite life and works as a psychologist

Posted on March 12, 2026 By admin

Once a beloved child star of the 1980s, Chad Allen rose to fame on TV shows like St. Elsewhere, Our House, and My Two Dads. Despite his success, growing up in Hollywood left him struggling with identity and pressure, and he briefly stepped away from acting as a teenager to experience a normal life.

As an adult, Allen faced addiction but eventually entered recovery. In 1996, while starring in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, a tabloid outing revealed he was gay, which led to personal challenges and fewer acting opportunities.

In 2015, he left Hollywood and reinvented himself, earning a doctorate in clinical psychology and opening his own therapy practice. Today, he focuses on helping others heal from trauma and identity struggles, becoming an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and choosing purpose and authenticity over fame.
