A 12-year-old girl, Jada West, tragically died after collapsing following a fight with another student last week in Georgia. The Mason Creek Middle School student had argued with another girl on a school bus, and the conflict turned into a physical fight after they got off near her home in Villa Rica.
Shortly after the fight ended, Jada collapsed while walking home. A friend alerted her parents, and she was rushed to the hospital before being transferred to another medical center, where she later died. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
Her family says Jada was new to the school and had experienced bullying. “We just want justice for my niece,” her aunt said.
The Douglas County School System expressed condolences and said the incident happened off school property and is now under investigation by the Villa Rica Police Department. Counselors have been made available to support students and staff affected by the tragedy.
