Veteran actor Matt Clark has died at 89 after complications from back surgery at his home in Texas.
Known for roles in Back to the Future: Part III and Grace Under Fire, he built a decades-long career appearing alongside stars like Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, and Robert Redford. His credits included films such as The Outlaw Josey Wales and Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid.
Clark was respected as an “actor’s actor,” focused on his craft rather than fame. Directors praised his ability to elevate every scene and stay deeply committed to his roles.
He especially loved Westerns, calling them a lifelong passion.
Off-screen, his family remembered him as loyal, hardworking, and principled—a man devoted to both his work and loved ones.
He is survived by his family, leaving behind a legacy of over 120 film and TV roles.
