The Oscars’ In Memoriam segment honors stars who passed away, a tradition dating back to 1978 and made regular in 1994.
At the 2026 ceremony, several legends like Diane Keaton, Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, and Diana Ladd were honored, with Barbra Streisand performing a tribute.
However, fans noticed several omissions, including James Van Der Beek, Eric Dane, and Malcolm-Jamal Warner—possibly because they were more known for television.
Other notable names left out included Brigitte Bardot. Meanwhile, Gene Hackman was not included because he had already been honored the previous year.
Although many of the omitted stars appear on the Academy’s official memorial page, the exclusions sparked criticism—continuing a recurring issue with the Oscars tribute.
