A simple act of kindness changed the life of 78-year-old DoorDash driver Richard.
Brittany Smith from Tennessee noticed her daughter’s Starbucks order being delivered by a struggling elderly man. Her daughter’s father, a quadriplegic, couldn’t get the Starbucks himself, and the man’s struggle inspired Brittany to help.
She posted a short video online, which quickly went viral. Using social media, she tracked Richard down and gave him a $200 tip. Richard shared that he drives for DoorDash because his wife lost her job and they needed money for her expensive medication.
The story inspired a GoFundMe, “Give Richard a chance to rest again,” which has raised over $930,000. Richard hasn’t slept in two days, overwhelmed by the support, and Brittany says meeting him in person was even more heartwarming.
