An American woman, Lynette Hooker, 55, vanished after falling overboard in the Bahamas while on an 8-foot dinghy with her husband, Brian, 58. Strong currents quickly swept her away, and it’s unclear if she was wearing a life jacket. She had been holding the boat’s key, causing the engine to shut off.
The couple shared their sailing life online as “The Sailing Hookers.” Hours before her disappearance, they posted a photo of their boat with the caption: “Not going anywhere for a while?!”
No criminal charges have been filed, but Lynette’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, raised concerns about Brian’s behavior, citing past threats and arguing that Lynette, an experienced boater, was unlikely to lose balance while holding the key.
The search has shifted to a recovery effort, with Aylesworth fearing the worst but still hoping Lynette might have reached a nearby island.
