Dee Freeman, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and actress known for Sistas and The Young and the Restless, has died at 66 after battling stage 4 lung cancer. She passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, her family confirmed.
Born in Louisiana in 1959, Freeman served six years in the Marines before building a career in acting, appearing in over 80 stage productions and numerous TV shows, including Seinfeld, ER, The X-Files, Dexter, and NCIS: Los Angeles. She recently gained recognition for her role on Sistas and had been invited back for another season.
Even during her illness, she continued working, adapting her stage show Poison Gun into a novel.
Freeman was remembered for her strength, grace, and authenticity. She is survived by her two children, Amber and Shane, whom she called her greatest accomplishment.
