An 80-year-old Arizona man, Richard Hoppin, is working five days a week as a Lyft driver to cover medical bills and basic living costs for himself and his wife.
A retired Marine with multiple sclerosis and Crohn’s disease, Hoppin drives daily, picking up passengers across long distances just to make ends meet. His wife, Catherine, is battling lung cancer and undergoing expensive treatments, adding to their financial strain.
Despite insurance, out-of-pocket costs have pushed them to the brink, with Catherine saying they might be homeless without his income.
Concerned neighbors launched a GoFundMe to help, raising nearly $35,000 toward a $40,000 goal, hoping to ease their burden and let them focus on their health instead of survival.
