Veteran British actor John Nolan, uncle of filmmakers Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, has died at the age of 87.
Known for his long career in film, TV, and theatre, he appeared in several of his nephews’ projects, including Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Following (1998), and Dunkirk (2017). He also played John Greer in the TV series Person of Interest, which brought him a new generation of fans.
Born in London in 1938, Nolan trained at Drama Centre London and performed with major theatre companies including the Royal Shakespeare Company. He began his screen career in the 1970s, gaining recognition with roles in BBC dramas and later appearing in various films and TV shows.
Beyond acting, he also contributed voice work and writing projects throughout his career, spanning decades in the entertainment industry.
He is survived by his wife, actress Kim Hartman, their children, and grandchildren, leaving behind a lasting legacy in British theatre and Hollywood cinema.
