CBS is making a major change to its late-night lineup after The Late Show with Stephen Colbert ends its run, which began in 2015 after replacing David Letterman’s long-running version of the show.
The network announced that starting May 22, the 11:35 p.m. slot will be filled by Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, a stand-up comedy panel series that originally launched in 2006. It will air in a two-hour block alongside another Allen-produced show, Funny You Should Ask.
CBS confirmed the decision in April, with Colbert’s final episode set for May 21, marking the end of the Late Show franchise after more than 30 years. The network said the change was a financial decision, not related to performance or content.
Byron Allen said the goal of Comics Unleashed is to focus on clean, universal humor rather than political topics, aiming for broad, family-friendly appeal.
