Posted on July 2, 2026 By admin

A Washington high school athlete has died following a tragic accident during a lacrosse recruiting showcase near Seattle.

Seventeen-year-old Eliot Abramson, a midfielder at Mercer Island High School, was participating in the June 1 event when he was struck in the neck by a high-speed lacrosse ball. The impact reportedly caused him to lose consciousness immediately, and he collapsed on the field.

He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where doctors performed emergency surgery. Despite nearly a week in intensive care, he passed away on June 7.

Eliot had played lacrosse since childhood and was attending the showcase as part of his college recruitment journey. His school and family confirmed his death and shared tributes remembering him as a passionate athlete and devoted teammate.

His mother, Jessica Abramson-Lott, honored him in a heartfelt message, expressing comfort in the belief that he has been reunited with his late father.

The tragedy has drawn renewed attention to rare but serious injuries in lacrosse, a sport that continues to grow rapidly in popularity across the United States and internationally.
