A Texas mom, Kelli Tarin, turned to a Facebook group for help after finding mysterious “coffee ground”-like piles in her daughter’s bedroom.
She posted photos in a homemaking group, sparking thousands of comments suggesting everything from termites and ants to rat droppings. Tarin even called two pest control companies, but neither could identify the cause.
Worried, she kept her daughter out of the room while continuing to investigate and rule out pests like mice, roaches, and bats.
The mystery was finally solved after a Facebook commenter suggested checking nearby toys. Tarin discovered a stuffed lavender bear with a hole in it—revealing the “piles” were actually spilled filling beads from inside the toy.
She emptied the bear and realized the entire issue was just a broken stuffed animal, later laughing at the misunderstanding and her relief.
