Former Mark Fuhrman, a central figure in the 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial, has died at 74 after battling throat cancer. The Idaho coroner confirmed his death, and reports say he chose to stop treatment after being hospitalized for about a week.
Fuhrman became controversial during the trial after discovering a bloody glove linked to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. His credibility was later challenged when tapes surfaced of him using racist slurs after he had denied doing so under oath. Simpson’s defense argued this raised doubts about the investigation and suggested evidence may have been planted, though Fuhrman strongly denied the claims.
In 1996, Fuhrman pleaded no contest to felony perjury for lying during the trial, becoming the only person convicted in connection to the case. After retiring from the Los Angeles Police Department, he worked as a true crime author, radio host, and frequent commentator on Fox News. He had been living in Idaho and was officially barred from returning to police work in California in 2024 because of his felony conviction.
