I ruined my son’s wedding — should I feel guilty about it!

Posted on May 26, 2026May 26, 2026 By admin

My son was once a loving husband and father, but everything changed after his son Tommy was born with Down syndrome. Instead of supporting his wife Jane and their child, he became distant, cheated on her, divorced her, and eventually abandoned them completely.

I stayed close to help Jane and Tommy, while my son barely visited or supported his child. No matter how much I begged him to step up, he refused.

Recently, I learned through family that he was getting remarried — and I wasn’t even invited.

On the wedding day, I arrived at the church carrying Tommy in my arms just as my son was about to say “I do.” I stopped the ceremony and told everyone the truth about how he abandoned his wife and disabled son.

I looked at his bride and warned her about the kind of man he had become. I told my son I no longer recognized him and that Tommy deserved a father who wouldn’t walk away.

After I left, his fiancée reportedly broke down in tears, called off the wedding, and walked out on him in front of everyone.

Maybe exposing him publicly was extreme, but I wanted him to finally face the consequences of abandoning his child. More than anything, I still hope he someday chooses to become the father Tommy deserves.
