NBC Host Sara Gore Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Sara Gore has announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will step away from her hosting roles on NBC New York’s Open House and New York Live to undergo treatment and surgery.
Speaking on New York Live, she said, “I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’m going to be stepping away for treatment and surgery,” adding that she felt scared sharing the news publicly.
Gore, 49, shared that with a family history of breast cancer, she knew she was high-risk, but said the diagnosis still came as an emotional shock, even after early detection.
Despite stepping away, she said she is in good hands with doctors and supported by family and colleagues, whom she described as her “work family.”
She added that the experience has made her reflect on life and what truly matters, saying she is trying to find meaning and a “gift” in the difficult moment.
Gore is best known as the host of Open House and co-host of New York Live, as well as for her work in lifestyle, food, and entertainment television.
