Fad diets and strict food rules are everywhere these days, often driven by goals like weight loss, health improvement, or personal beliefs. Most of us have cut things from our diets at some point, but few have taken it as far as Dr. Nick Norwitz.
Dr. Norwitz, a researcher focused on metabolic health, recently gained attention on YouTube for eating 700 eggs in a month—about 24 eggs a day—to test if high cholesterol intake would affect his LDL (bad) cholesterol.
Surprisingly, instead of rising, his LDL levels dropped—by 2% in the first two weeks and 18% by the end of the month. He attributed this to how the liver regulates cholesterol and the addition of carbs like fruit (bananas, berries) in the final phase of the challenge.
While it’s not a diet anyone should try at home, his experiment challenges long-held beliefs about dietary cholesterol.
