When my best friend set me up on a blind date, I expected an ordinary evening. Instead, I met a man who seemed almost too good to be true. He arrived with flowers and a thoughtful gift, treated me with respect all night, and insisted on paying for dinner.
I left convinced I’d just experienced one of my best first dates.
The next morning, that feeling disappeared.
Instead of a sweet message, I received a detailed “invoice” charging me for everything he had done on the date—from the bouquet and gift to pulling out my chair and listening to me talk. His “payment” requests included hugs, compliments, another date, and even hinted he’d complain to our mutual friends if I didn’t cooperate.
Needless to say, there wasn’t a second date.
